The wind came up early today and made it difficult to fish some of the open areas where we caught many of our Stripers yesterday so a change in plans was necessary.
It was a long day covering a lot of ground and we ended up with only 20-25 fish which were smaller on average than the previous day’s effort. Brian caught one really good one that was safely released after a photo op and we lost a couple of others of a similar size. Basically the tides and winds weren’t favorable to where and how I like to fish for Stripers.
To put things in perspective Brian is a big boy at 6’ 4” with a solid build so the catch of the day was a pretty good sized fish. No weight or measurements because you can see it clearly from the pic without unnecessarily hanging it up from a set of scales…
12lb mono and a single shank, barbless hook which came out when he was in the net. This is a typical occurrence with of a lot of our fish so they are very easy to return to the water – and to remove from us too if we get stuck!
